The Concept
The concept of my animation will be a step by step visualisation of the changes society must make to adapt to a better future. The target audience will be young adults as this is the current generation who will be greatly impacted if changes are not made to benefit our planet and are people who can help to make these changes happen. The name of the animation is ‘The Awakening Future’, portraying the idea that the future is coming and that it is down to us to make these changes before it is too late. The animation will begin with a sunrise, relating to the idea of ‘awakening’. This will allow a clear connection to be developed between the first scene and the title of the animation. Each scene will be a different visualisation relating to the current point being discussed by Sarah Ichioka, so that points become more memorable by being associated with certain imagery. Simplistic day to day objects such as a computer, match sticks and paper cut outs are within different scenes of the storyboard. The reasoning to this being to allow the animation to be more relatable and to build stronger connections with viewers. The aim to build a connection with viewers relates to Sarah Ichioka’s points within the audio about coming together, therefore strengthening the points being discussed.
100 Years of RSA Student Design Awards
The Concept-
In summary the overall concept of my animation is a storybook reflecting upon and celebrating 100 great years of the RSA Student Design Awards. What makes a great storybook? Its not predictable, you dont know whats to come next and you are left on a cliff hanger. The RSA journey is much like a good old storybook. This journey will be reflected and shown through various animation styles to hopefully leave viewers inspired and appreciative upon what the RSA celebrates and the impacts it will have on the future.
I aim for those watching the animation to want to know more about the history of the RSA, recognise the significance of the design work mentioned in their own lives, want to become part of the RSA history and make a change. I want the video to be something that people mention and share to others and that overall becomes memorable to those watching.
